Guiding thousands of new citizens to find a community to belong to
The Danish city Aarhus is with its many educational institutions one of the Danish capitals for education, and thousands of new students from all over the world move in to study every year. Just like most other student cities, way too many young students feel lonely and have a hard time finding a balance in their new lives. Give’ism wants to contribute to solving the challenge and make Aarhus a better city to live in and new communities blossom. The initiative ‘The Warm Welcome Society’ aims at just that, it gives the new young citizens a warm welcome in a manner that can kick-start their way into having a comfortable base and a healthy social life in their new city.
Meet new people with shared interests
As a new citizen in Aarhus, you receive a welcome letter from the Mayor of Aarhus. It invites you to attend a small and cosy Warm Welcome evening at the so-called ’Habitbreaker palace’, a house build to resemblance an old mansion from the 1890’ties. Going to an online invitation site, you can choose between different themes of interest. This is to make sure, that when you attend you will meet other new citizens, whom you’ll share interest with. During your welcome evening two citizen-hosts will send you on a both cosy and adventurous journey and make sure that you team up with likeminded people and together find your right direction.
